Met Gala 2025: The Internet Reacts to Blackpink Alum Lisa’s Controversial Rosa Parks Underwear
Lisa was feeling like a new woman at the 2025 Met Gala.
As the Blackpink alum strutted the famed steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art May 5 for the first time ever, fans were shocked to see Rosa Parks’ face seemingly embroidered into the bottom of her bodysuit.
But during a look into her final fitting before the iconic charity gala, the White Lotus star made it clear that her formfitting Louis Vuitton lace blazer and bodysuit—designed by Pharrell Williams, the men’s creative director for the brand—was inspired by artist Henry Taylor, who was also the artist behind Pharrell’s Vogue cover last month.
“It recreates an artwork by Henry Taylor,” Lisa explained in the May 6 YouTube video, urging the person behind the camera to zoom into the intricate faces incorporated into the lace. “It’s crazy, you have to see all the details.”
And in a recent statement to Vulture, a representative for Taylor set the record straight by adding that "The figure featured in Lisa’s Louis Vuitton look is not Rosa Parks, but one of Henry’s neighbors."
"The faces seen on this look, as well as on previous LV garments featuring Taylor’s artwork, are all drawn from his personal life,” the rep continued, “family members, friends, and neighbors. These figures come directly from Henry’s existing artworks, which he provided to LVMH for Pharrell’s debut collection with Louis Vuitton in 2023."
In addition to the intriguing lace designs, Lisa’s ensemble boasted an interesting silhouette which was overlaid with the Louis Vuitton Flower Monogram and hand-embellished with crystals. After all, the K-pop star was determined from the very beginning to push boundaries for fashion’s biggest night.
“I could wear pants, but do we want to do that,” she recalled thinking. “Or do we wanna make something more crazier, more fun?”

As for the color of the look, the 28-year-old decided on a palette that not only fit the theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” but also something that would made her feel confident.
“When I wear black, I feel powerful,” she noted. It’s the perfect fit.”
For his part, Pharrell—one of the co-chairs of the gala, alongside A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton as well as Vogue editor Anna Wintour—walked her through her debut moment before reassuring her that she was going to turn heads no matter what.
“For your first met and moving forward,” Pharrell told her, “I think you just stand in the confidence of knowing that you are eating the carpet up tonight.”
“It’s just gonna work,” he added of the daring design, “because this was made for you.”
Indeed, the “Happy” singer went on to detail the inspiration behind her customized look that he described as chic, wearable and well-made.
“This look is inspired by the theme of this year’s Met Gala, which is Superfine,” the Grammy winner explained. “The idea that we love this color black and the world loves the color black. But here’s a moment where we highlight the taste level and the taste buds of Black people.”
