Prime Video is a prime destination for superhero series, and its critically acclaimed animated series Invincible continues to launch the streaming platform into high demand for comic fans.
The series follows teen Mark Grayson, whose his father is Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on the planet. After his 17th birthday, he develops superpowers of his own and has to learn how to control his newfound abilities while grappling with the revelation that his father’s legacy may not be as valiant as he thought. Based on creator Robert Kirkman’s comic book series of the same name, the show premiered in 2021 and most recently wrapped up Season 3 last March.
Beef’s Steven Yeun voices Mark, and was nominated for an Emmy last year for his performance in Season 3. Screen legend J.K. Simmons plays Omni-Man (to normal humans, he’s Nolan Grayson.) New to the show this season is The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan (who co-starred with Yeun in the zombie series) and Lee Pace, who will voice Thragg, the villainous Grand Regent of the Viltrum Empire.
Continuing its bloody streak of exceptional reviews, Season 4 has debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with a Tomatometer score of 100%. Although there are only a little over a dozen critic reviews so far, we can expect that like the previous seasons, the audience rating will be just as high. Metacritic has also given the new season a “Universal acclaim” rating, the highest level for television and film.
