Diane Kruger Shares Rare Update on Her and Norman Reedus’ Daughter Nova
When it comes to acting, Diane Kruger's daughter Nova has become her North Star.
In fact, the actress is "much more conscious" of the roles she takes on these days because of her 6-year-old, who she shares with longtime partner Norman Reedus.
"I can't teach her, I can only live by example," Diane explained in an exclusive interview with E! News. "Obviously, I grew up in a very different world than she ever will, so there's a lot of stuff that will just be a given for her that I went through and I wouldn't never tolerate that for my daughter."
That's why it was a no-brainer for her to join the cast of HBO Max's The Seduction—a reimagined prequel to the 1988 period drama Dangerous Liaisons—as Madame de Rosemonde, who the 49-year-old describes as one of the first pioneers of women that decided to live their life like a man."
"She was able to navigate the golden cage that was traditionally built by men for men," Diane said of her character during the joint interview with costar Anamaria Vartolomei. "I love portraying that rage inside of her of trying to push those walls and handing the baton to the next generation, who will push further."
She continued, "That was, for me, the fun and the reason why I wanted to be part of it."

And Diane aims to pass on her character's relentless spirit to her daughter.
"Hopefully," she shared, "she'll watch this one day and be like, 'You kicked ass, Mom.'"
But, according to the National Treasure alum, Nova is already growing up to be quite the outspoken lady. After all, the youngster didn't hold back when she saw what her mom was wearing on the set of The Seduction.
"She saw me in costume, and she was like, 'You look like from the olden days, Mom. It's making you look old,'" Diane shared with a laugh. "So, it's definitely a reality check there."
The Seduction premieres on HBO Max Nov. 14.
