Diane Keaton has died.

The Oscar-winning actress, whose memorable roles include Annie Hall and The First Wives Club, passed away in California, a family spokesperson confirmed to People Oct. 11. She was 79.

Born in Los Angeles in 1946, Diane’s career began on the stage with the 1968 Broadway production of Hair. She followed that with a role in Woody Allen’s production of Play It Again, Sam, which earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play.

From there, Diane broke through in Hollywood in the 1970s with roles in Lovers and Other Strangers and The Godfather series as well as a string of screen collaborations with Allen including Sleeper, Manhattan Murder Mystery and Annie Hall, which earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1977.

The actress remained active in the entertainment industry for decades, earning praise for her performances in big-screen favorites including Marvin’s Room, Something’s Gotta Give and The Family Stone. She most recently starred in the 2024 comedy Summer Camp.
