If you go by the numbers, there have been very few baseball players ever like Corbin Carroll.
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound outfielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks has power that way outdoes his size. But he combines that with the speed you'd expect, both on extra-base hits and as a base stealer.
The full package is incredible: So far this season, Carroll has 21 home runs, 13 triples and 13 steals.
And no player has ever reached those numbers in the same season before August, per OptaStats, until Carroll.
The triples are really the separator. Nobody in modern baseball hits triples like Carroll.
He led the league in 2023, with 10 triples.
He led the league in 2024, with 14 triples.
And now Carroll is leading the league again and is on pace to shatter his career-high set last year.

But then he crushes the ball out of the ballpark, wreaks havoc on the bases, and oh yeah, he's a good rightfielder, too.
The Diamondbacks are selling at this trade deadline, but the hope in Arizona is that this is the last time they need to do that.
Carroll is as good of a foundational building block as a team could have. The Diamondbacks need to find a way to win with him.
