The Detroit Tigers got some much-needed bullpen help. On Wednesday evening, the Tigers acquired Rafael Montero from the Atlanta Braves.
The 34-year-old is joining his sixth organization since coming up with the New York Mets back in 2014. He was a World Series Champion with the Astros during the 2022 season. His best season came in 2022. He was 502 that season, and had an ERA of 2.37. In his career, he is 22-29
This year he is 0-1, with a 5.40 earned run average. He has made 39 appearances, including three to start the season with the Astros.
His last appearance as a member of the Braves came on Tuesday. In that game against the Royals, he pitched a scoreless inning, allowing just a single hit. In his outing on Monday, he allowed three runs without retiring a batter. He went three straight outings, allowing a total of eight runs, and retiring just seven batters.

Detroit heads into the weekend with a nine-game lead in the American League Central. The Tigers are off on Thursday and will start a three-game series at the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
The Braves will receive infielder Jim Jarvis in return. Atlanta starts Thursday at 45-62 and fourth place in the National League East, only 1.5 games ahead of last place Washington.
