As we await the full release of the Detroit Lions' 2025 schedule, we now know they will be opening the campaign against their division rival, the Green Bay Packers.
According to FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz, the Lions will travel to Lambeau Field in Week 1 to take on the Packers, with the game set to take place on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 4:25 p.m. ET.

This is quite the early matchup for the Lions and Packers. In 2024, the two teams did not meet for the first time until Week 9, and then had their rematch in Week 14.
This will no doubt add more juice to the regular-season opener for the NFC North rivals, but we hope to see the Lions and Packers play their second game late in the season because both should be vying for the division crown.
The Packers will be looking to exact some revenge against the Lions after Detroit won both games against Green Bay in 2024.
Green Bay has gotten the better of Detroit all time, with the Packers owning a 104-78-7 record over the Lions. However, the Lions have won six of the last seven against the Packers.
