The Cleveland Browns are on fire, and there's no getting around it. This isn't an anomaly or a hot streak that's going to disappear overnight. The Browns beat the Tennessee Titans 27-24, and they're still sitting at the top of the AFC North.
It's an unlikely Cinderella story, and quarterback Deshaun Watson is leading the charge. Sure, he hasn't been perfect this season, but no quarterback is without mistakes. He's helping pull off wins, and that's the point in the NFL. Win games.
With the NFL's Week 7 slate wrapping up, it's a good time to look back at the action and see which teams came out on top. The Browns certainly made their case.
Deshaun Watson and the Browns are finding ways to win with complementary football
NFL analyst Nick Shook of the league's official website offers some takeaways from the NFL's run of Week 7 games. In his analysis, he praises Watson and points out that he's doing something the Browns haven't seen in a while.
"On Sunday, it was once again Deshaun Watson leading a game-winning scoring drive by finding targets over the middle for catch-and-run opportunities," he says.
Shook also makes an interesting observation: Cleveland's defense wasn't as stellar as usual. That's not ideal, but the encouraging part was seeing the offense step up and help carry the team. That's complementary football at its best.
"Instead, it was a brand of complementary football that is becoming more difficult to discount -- a statement Browns fans haven't read when describing their team in quite some time," he notes. "Welcome to the Todd Monken era."
