Derrick White's trade value revealed after latest Celtics rumors

3 hours ago 3

Boston Celtics guard Derrick White is one of the best role players in the NBA, arguably the best in the league.

White does everything on the court for the Celtics, playing defense at a high level and also showing the ability to score when needed, averaging 16.4 points during the regular season.

With White's ability to hit open shots, he fits in perfectly with what the Celtics love to do.

Despite that, some have wondered if the team could move on from him. Trading White would be a very strange decision, but with Jayson Tatum out for much of the next season, anything could be possible.

However, according to Jay King of The Athletic, the price tag for White will be extremely high, with him wondering if any team would even be willing to blow away Brad Stevens with an offer.

“At this stage, I’m not sure even the Celtics front office could provide percentages on that. As far as I’m aware, none of those four players will be untouchable, but the price tag for Jaylen Brown and Derrick White will be extremely high,” he wrote.

Unless the Celtics get back a younger player who is arguably an All-Star, trading White would make little to no sense.

He still has four years remaining on his contract, with a player option during the 2028-29 season. A four-year, $180 million deal for one of the top role players in the NBA is a steal, and something Stevens understands.

Stevens is arguably the best executive in the NBA and won't give up one of his top players for pennies on the dollar.
