Denver Broncos Undrafted Rookie Spotlight: Tyler Miller adds to one of team's biggest strengths

1 hour ago 3

The Denver Broncos weren't hurting for offensive linemen coming into the 2026 NFL Draft, but the team is still looking to build that unit for the future, looking at aging players such as Garett Bolles and Mike McGlinchey and bringing in potential replacements for down the line.

After selecting Boise State's Kage Casey in the fourth round, the Broncos signed two offensive tackles through the undrafted free-agent process. Gavin Ortega has already been profiled here, and now we take a look at Tyler Miller.

Name: Tyler Miller
Position: Offensive Tackle
School: Iowa State
Height: 6-foot-9
Weight: 335

Miller comes to the Broncos as a massive prospect at 6-foot-9 with a wealth of playing experience at one of the top programs in the Big 12 conference.

After redshirting his freshman season, Miller's first start came in the Cheez-It Bowl following the 2021 season. He then became a fixture on the Cyclones' offensive line, finishing his career with 39 consecutive starts at one of the tackle spots. His 50 starts are the second-most in Iowa State history.

Though he's big, he went undrafted for a reason. He will need to improve his footwork and show that he can hold up against speed rushers at the professional level, but he is definitely one of the better prospects in this year's undrafted crop.

Chances of making final 53-man roster (1-10 scale): 3

The Broncos have good, experienced offensive line in which the starting five is pretty much already set. Bolles and McGlinchey will be the tackles, Quinn Meinerz and Ben Powers will man the guard slots and Luke Wattenberg will be the starting center.

But the Broncos have terrific rotational players behind them as well, two of which, Frank Crum and Alex Palczewski, were once undrafted free agents themselves. Both of them figure to make the team, as will Casey. However, if the Broncos keep nine offensive linemen on the 53-man roster, there is still a path for Miller.

Per source, two of #Broncos most significant undrafted college free agents signing-bonus-wise are Iowa State offensive tackle Tyler Miller and Weber State OL Gavin Ortega.

Ortega, Nash Jones, Nick Gargiulo, Calvin Throckmorton and Michael Deiter will all be looking to claim that last spot, which would currently belong to Matt Peart in the pecking order. Peart is a veteran with starting experience, but if Miller (or any of those other names) are going to crack this roster, Peart will be the guy they need to beat out.

With all of that said, Sean Payton may not want to put too much pressure on the younger players on the team as he generally prefers a veteran group. It is much more likely that Miller will be signed to the team's practice squad following the preseason, so long as he clears waivers as the team will first have to cut him and expose him to the waiver wire for 24 hours.
