Deniz Undav’s wife Tanja gushes over Germany hero’s World Cup performance

The Germany men’s soccer team looked to be in trouble in its World Cup stage game against the Ivory Coast on June 20.

This is because the Ivory Coast jumped to a 1-0 lead after a goal by Franck Kessié in the 30th minute. Despite having several solid opportunities, Germany couldn’t find the back of the net in the first half and trailed heading into halftime, despite being big favorites to win.

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann then made a substitution that changed his team’s fate in the second half: he subbed VfB Stuttgart forward Deniz Undav in for Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala in the 60th minute.

Undav (who had been a relatively unknown name to this point, in terms of the global soccer community) went on to score the two biggest goals of his career, thus winning Germany the game.

The first goal arrived in the 68th minute, which tied the game at 1. Then the second goal arrived in the 94th minute, just a few minutes before the final whistle was blown.

While all of Germany is surely praising Undav now, nobody is happier for him than his wife, Tanja. These two have been married since 2021 and welcomed a daughter into the world in 2024.

Tanja Undav doesn’t appear to be supporting her husband in person at the World Cup. However, she showed him love during his heroic performance on June 20 through a post to her Instagram Story.

The post showed her watching the Germany vs. Ivory Coast game on TV. Undav was on screen, looking upward, to which Tanja added, “😍❤️” as a caption.

She followed this up with another Story post that showed Deniz celebrating his second goal. She added the caption (in translated German), “Too much for my heart 😭❤️ Unbelievable 🔥”.

This post came before Undav’s second goal, which means that she must be over the moon now. And so is the rest of Germany’s fan base.
