Colorado Buffaloes legend Shedeur Sanders took a shocking slide to the fifth round in this year’s NFL Draft, but he was still in good spirits after Cleveland drafted him with the No. 144 pick.
The new Browns quarterback reportedly “threw a massive party” in celebration, per a tweet from Dov Kleiman. Kleiman reported that Sanders flexed over $100,000 in cash at the event, where many celebrities were in attendance.
Deion Sanders Jr., Shedeur’s brother, responded to the report with clarification on how much money Shedeur spent on the party. Sanders Jr. revealed that the money was a gift worth $1 million.
“Let’s tell the correct story now,” Sanders Jr. tweeted. “It was actually a gift that he received…. and it was a million.”
Despite his well-documented talent, Shedeur’s immediate future in the league is not set in stone. Recent reports have speculated that the Browns could potentially cut Shedeur before the season starts. He is slated to open training camp as Cleveland’s fourth-string quarterback.
Meanwhile, some analysts believe Shedeur should have considered returning to college and hitting the transfer portal. The enigmatic signal-caller has become a divisive topic of discussion among NFL fans, due in large part to controversial reports on his pre-draft interview and the involvement of his father, Deion.
Prime Time coached his son to superstar status last season, resulting in Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors for Shedeur. Despite his on-field success, Shedeur will enter the league with a host of haters to prove wrong.
32 teams humbled him on draft night when he fell to the fifth round, and he will be looking to humble 31 of them back. Only time will tell if the rookie can carve out a significant role with the Browns.
