Deal Or No Deal Island is shaking things up for Season 2. With more drama, larger cash prizes, and wilder twists, the hit hybrid NBC game show continues to innovate. Joe Manganiello returns to host the proceedings and manage a new group of contestants, which includes some familiar faces for reality TV fans. Survivor‘s Parvati Shallow, Big Brother‘s Dr. Will Kirby, and Australian Survivor‘s David Genat are among the competitors this season. Judging from the all-new trailer, these legends wasted no time making their mark.
“I won Survivor,”says Parvati in her confessional, establishing her resume. The camera cuts to her leading a meditation circle. “I could be a cult leader,” she purrs in a voiceover. One player to keep an eye on is Phillip Solomon, who immediately clocks Parvati’s cunning. “Parvati gains the trust of men and squeezes them until they die,” he says as Parvati is shown wrestling a male contestant and putting him in a headlock using her thighs.
While Parvati’s strategy is to be big and bold, Genat’s is to lay low. “I’m not telling anyone that I’m the greatest Australian Survivor player of all time,” whispers David in his confessional. “I am deep undercover.” The trailer shows him zip-lining and brandishing an axe shirtless and then sitting and listening to player Maria-Grace Cook rant about Parvati. “Everyone who wins Survivor is insanely intelligent,” she says. David can only look into the camera discreetly, raise his eyebrow, and flash a grin.
The trailer also shows Dr. Will arriving at the island in a tuxedo, giving total James Bond vibes. “I’m the best Big Brother player of all time,” he says smoothly. “Lie, mislead, that’s my strategy,” Dr. Will says in his confessional while he sends team members sprinting ahead of him during a challenge. As Joe calls out Dr. Will for being the last person to leave, Dr. Will walks cooly ahead. “Peasants run,” he says simply. “The king doesn’t run.”
Clearly, these three came in thinking they could run this game. David is the first to express any dismay. “Every single person is a narcissistic psychopath,” he marvels to the camera. A montage of action, mayhem, and intense moments between contestants plays out on screen, demonstrating that fans can expect the unexpected this season on Deal or No Deal Island. The season will culminate with one of the islanders winning “the most money anyone has ever won in the history of television,” according to Joe.
But the season’s biggest twist? We’ve got an all-new banker! “Beware of the banker,” warns Joe. “You never know what she will do next.” So, who could it be? An OG case girl like Claudia Jordan? Or maybe a certain former royal who has a history with the show? You’ll have to tune in on Tuesday, January 7 on NBC to find out!
