After the run to the 2026 NBA Finals, the San Antonio Spurs are ready to bounce back from the loss. They struggled against the New York Knicks, which showed their inexperience. It was a problem that most people warned them about, but they did get past it in the first three rounds of the Playoffs.
However, it was evident in the Finals that the Knicks had the mental advantage over the Spurs. Now, the Spurs are back to the drawing board, so they need to come back and work hard to return to that stage and finish the job.
De'Aaron Fox speaks about the importance of the Spurs working together in the summer
Fox is among the leaders on the Spurs roster. Yes, a lot of people might dislike him at the moment because of his struggles in the Playoffs. However, Fox is still well-respected in the Spurs' locker room, especially since he was still key to them reaching their first NBA Finals as a group.
With over a month left before the NBA season tips off, the Spurs are hard at work. They are already working together to build some genuine chemistry ahead of the 2026-27 season. Fox even invited some of his teammates to his home in Houston, where they could keep working out together.

Even new Spurs player Tobias Harris was present during the workouts. It just shows that the Spurs are connected with each other, and they are willing to sacrifice some vacation time to work on their games together ahead of training camp.
"We're at my house in Houston. I had Tobias, Vic, and HB here. We all worked out individually towards the beginning of the day, and we came together in the evening and were able to get some work in," Fox said about his workouts with his Spurs teammates.
"Training camp can't be the first time getting together as a team. You're going to be behind, and you're trying to play catch-up throughout the season. Even if you just get, you know, three or four, maybe five guys together throughout the course of the summer, it allows you to just get ahead a little bit."
That is a good mindset to have ahead of the 2026-27 season. Fox and the Spurs have a lot to prove after their surprise run in the regular season and to the NBA Finals. It will be challenging because they have targets on their backs now, but they are already hard at work to prove the doubters wrong.
