Delhi Capitals (DC) spent ₹21.45 crore of their available ₹21.8 crore purse to acquire eight players at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, held on Tuesday, December 16, in Abu Dhabi. The franchise opened their auction with the signing of veteran Proteas batter David Miller.
The 36-year-old brings a wealth of IPL experience, having played 141 matches and scored 3,077 runs at an average of 35.77 and a strike rate of 138.60, including 13 half-centuries and one century.
DC made a big-money acquisition by securing uncapped Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi for ₹8.40 crore. The 29-year-old has an impressive T20 record, claiming 43 wickets in 34 matches at an average of 21.81 and an economy rate of 7.74. In addition, the franchise strengthened their top order by bringing in two overseas openers: England’s Ben Duckett (₹2 crore) and Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka (₹4 crore).
The Capitals further bolstered their bowling attack by roping in South African seamer Lungi Ngidi, who featured for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during the 2025 season, at his base price of ₹2 crore. They also added uncapped Sahil Parakh for ₹30 lakh.
The IPL 2020 finalist welcomed back former opener Prithvi Shaw for ₹75 lakh. The right-handed batter has appeared in 79 IPL matches for DC, scoring 1,892 runs at an average of 23.94 and a strike rate of 147.46, including 14 half-centuries. Finally, DC completed their auction signings by securing New Zealand seamer Kyle Jamieson for his base price of ₹2 crore.
