Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud remained on concussion protocol on Wednesday, with Davis Mills set to get another start for the team. Stroud was sent on concussion protocol thanks to a hit from Denver Broncos defensive back Kris Abrams-Draine.

He missed the Texans’ subsequent game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, with Mills filling in and leading the team to a win. Several reactions are trailing C.J. Stroud’s latest injury report, especially from fans on social media platforms like X. Frank wrote:

TD McClellan commented:

“Worked out just fine for the Houston Texans last week!”

Elena also commented:

“Oh, bless his heart, that poor boy’s noggin needs all the rest it can get. Football’s a rough game these days; praying C.J. heals up quickly and strong. Go get ‘em, Davis; show us what you’ve got!”

Eric K added:

“I get the excitement, but Mills was also the guy who had 6 straight 3-outs to close the Broncos game. Should be fine for the Tennessee game, but CJ needs to get back soon.”

“He looked great last week, so I’m sure they’re ecstatic. Mills is smart and knows how to utilize his best players. Nico will continue to feed.”

How did Davis Mills do in C.J. Stroud’s absence?

In C.J. Stroud’s absence against the Broncos, Mills completed 27 of 45 passes for 292 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Stroud was initially reported to be spotted at the Texans' practice facility on Monday. This filled a lot of Texans fans with hope that their starting quarterback might be ready for Week 11 action against the Tennessee Titans.

There is a possibility for Stroud to play in Sunday’s game against the Titans. However, he would need to be part of two practices this week without showing any concussion symptoms. Besides Wednesday’s training session, the Texans will also practice on Thursday and Friday, which is enough time for him to be cleared.

If he goes on to miss Sunday’s game, it won’t be the first time the quarterback has missed two straight games with a concussion. He similarly missed two games with a concussion in his rookie season before returning and getting named the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
