Daulton Varsho made his season debut for the Blue Jays on Tuesday night, and he made sure to bring some fireworks in his return.
Varsho, who had been held out of action due to a shoulder injury he suffered last August, had a deep fly ball tracking toward him in center field in the fourth inning against the Red Sox.
After initially stumbling and losing the baseball, he wound up making one of the greatest catches of the 2025 season and perhaps one of the most improbable snags the sport has ever seen.

Here's a look at Varsho's catch Tuesday against Boston, some of the outfielder's other career highlights, and how much hardware he's previously won in the outfield.
Daulton Varsho's catch vs. Red Sox
In his first game of the 2025 season, Varsho appeared destined for a massive blunder in center field when Jarren Duran hit a deep fly ball to center field in Rogers Centre.
When he reached the warning track, Varsho fell on his back, rolled, quickly got back up on his right knee, then made a last-second stab at the baseball.
He caught it, much to the disbelief of everybody else in the stadium.

He fell at the CF wall, rolled over, and made a backhand catch to rob Jarren Duran of a big hit.

Varsho's unreal catch on Tuesday was the latest, and arguably the best, impressive snag in his six-year MLB career.
Towards the beginning of last season, he leaped at the wall in left-center field vs. San Diego for a standout grab.

Given the amount of acrobatic and simply unreal catches he makes, it's only right that Varsho has some hardware to show for it.
He was given a 2024 AL Gold Glove award for the Blue Jays, joining Wilyer Abreu of the Red Sox and Steven Kwan of the Guardians among AL outfielders to earn the honor.
