Darnell Washington's height, weight make Steelers tight end seem like he should play a different position

Darnell Washington would make a great left tackle.

That's one of the first things that becomes apparent after watching the Pittsburgh Steelers' tight end block for just one play.

But that's how special a talent he is, that he can be a solid tight end as a pass catcher and even running after the catch, even at his gargantuan size.

Washington has been in the spotlight plenty lately with the Steelers on in primetime a couple games in a row.

He certainly catches fans' attention immediately.

What does Darnell Washington weigh?

The Steelers officially list Darnell Washington's weight as being 264 pounds.

That's not totally accurate, though. Steelers tight end coach Alfredo Roberts said in 2024 that Washington weighed more than 300 pounds.

Darnell Washington 40 time

At the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, Darnell Washington ran the 40-yard dash in 4.64 seconds, which is quite impressive at his size.

The Steelers ended up picking Washington in the third round, No. 93 overall, in the 2023 draft.

Now, he's a useful piece of the TE depth chart as a blocker and the occasional rumbling, powerful pass catcher. When he gets in the end zone, it's certainly a sight to behold.
