Observations from the Giants’ training camp on Sunday:

Grab Attention

Darius Slayton submitted an early nominee for Catch of the Summer, making a one-handed sideline stab of a deep pass from Russell Wilson and getting his feet inbounds. It almost got surpassed in less than two hours when Cam Skattebo snared the ball while falling out of bounds after it ricocheted off of Da’Quan Felton, but Skattebo’s foot was on the white paint.

‘O’ No!

In a hurry-up period, the starting offense faced a fourth-and-19 and got called for a presnap penalty, which led to a surrender and the second-team offense coming on the field. Wilson was 1-for-2 in that period, but never spiked the ball.

Caught My Eye

The celebratory “Turnover Chest” made an appearance when Jevon Holland leapt to intercept a pass from Wilson after it was tipped by a blitzing Dru Phillips. Holland returned the pick for a touchdown and started dancing. Teammates joined in and all of a sudden the pirate’s treasure chest was on the scene.

Injury Report

WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton suffered a torn Achilles on a noncontact injury, a source confirmed. Teammates dropped to a knee and huddled around an emotional Ford-Wheaton as he was loaded onto a cart and taken off the field. WR Wan’Dale Robinson left midway through practice after banging knees with a teammate and did not return. OLB Brian Burns did not participate in team drills after his part in a midair collision at full speed with Robinson in Friday’s practice.
