Dan Campbell kicked Detroit Lions defensive back out of practice

Physicality is obviously very important in the NFL, but there's a time and place for it.

That time and place was not at the Detroit Lions' third practice of training camp on Tuesday, when head coach Dan Campbell reportedly kicked defensive back Morice Norris out of the session for being too physical in what was a chippy practice.

"Physical practice today. Dan Campbell went out of his way on multiple occasions to tone down things down, warning the team to ease up. First time I’ve seen him kick a player out (DB Morice Norris) for being too physical," The Athletic's Colton Pouncy reported.

The Lions are a determined bunch this season after falling short of their goal of winning a Super Bowl in 2024, so it comes as no surprise that players are a little amped up.

Norris was an undrafted free-agent signing of the Lions in 2024. The Fresno State product appeared in two games for Detroit last season and saw just one snap on defense and 32 on special teams.

Morris, who is listed as a safety on the Lions' official roster, is competing for a spot on the roster and a backup role in his second season.
