The Dallas Mavericks have undergone major changes in the last 24 hours with the firing of general manager Nico Harrison. They are scheduled to play their first game since on Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns. The Mavericks begin this new era with significant injury updates.

Star forward Anthony Davis is questionable to play for the second consecutive game after sitting out the last two despite the same designation. He's dealing with a calf strain, which he suffered against the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 29. Davis has missed six games since.

However, he could be in contention to finally play. Davis reportedly wanted to play on Saturday in Washington and on Monday at home against the Milwaukee Bucks, but internal discussions held him back. Patrick Dumont and Nico Harrison were involved in the ultimate decision, while team doctors and training staff were split.

Meanwhile, Cooper Flagg found himself on the injury report due to a right thumb sprain. He sustained the injury after a dunk on Saturday against the Wizards. Flagg had his finger taped up on Monday against the Bucks, but he played through it and dropped a career-high 26 points.

After the game, he said it was painful, but not concerning. The Mavericks have listed him as available. Flagg will play through the injury for a second consecutive game.

The Dallas Mavericks have another positive injury update with Dereck Lively II in contention to return after missing the last eight games due to a right knee sprain. Lively is upgraded to questionable and has a 50-50 chance to play. He will be a game time decision.

Kyrie Irving and Dante Exum remain sidelined for the Mavericks. The guard duo hasn't made its season debut as Irving is recovering from an ACL surgery and Exum is managing a right knee injury.
