Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis is set to miss his seventh straight game due to a calf strain on Wednesday. The Mavericks are set to face the Phoenix Suns, and the 10-time All-Star remains out. Amid this, the team has made a major change in their front office by firing general manager Nico Harrison.
In a more surprising move, Mavericks' governor Patrick Dumont wants to monitor Davis' injury. The owner of the team does not want to put AD in danger of suffering a major injury. To ensure that the star forward is not in danger of aggravating the calf strain, Dumont has requested medical information from the team, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
Originally, the big man was expected to return to the lineup on Saturday, against the Washington Wizards. However, there was a disagreement between the team's director of health and performance, Johann Bilsborough, and Davis' medical team.

The Mavericks have not been at their best this season, given their 3-8 start. Most of it has something to do with injuries to their star players. Anthony Davis has only been limited to just five games to start the year, and Kyrie Irving is recovering from an ACL tear.
However, NBA insider Marc Stein reported that Davis wanted to return from injury early. According to Stein, AD made an effort to persuade the Mavericks to let him return to the court. Even Harrison reportedly urged the early return of the star big man.
“Monday’s loss to the Bucks marked the sixth straight game Davis has missed with a left calf strain. Multiple league sources said Davis has tried to convince the Mavs to let him return to the court, and Harrison urged him to return, but the team’s medical staff forbade it, citing the potential for a torn Achilles if Davis returned too soon,” Stein wrote.Nico Harrison reportedly urged Anthony Davis to return early from his calf injury, despite the Mavericks’ medical staff warning that there was a chance he could tear his Achilles if he came back too soon 😳, per @TheAthletic “Monday’s loss to the Bucks marked the sixth straight
