Dakota Johnson Rocks Sheer Revenge Dress After Chris Martin Breakup
Dakota Johnson isn’t picky when it comes to love.
Just days after her breakup with Chris Martin—whom she dated for nearly eight years—was confirmed, the Materialists star shared the one thing a prospective partner must have in a relationship.
As she told Craig Melvin on the June 9 episode of Today, “Just like, not an a--hole.”
And her costar Chris Evans—who plays one of her love interests in the Celine Song film about matchmaking—complimented the rule.
“That’s concise,” he joked. “There it is. Nail on the head.”
Dakota’s succinct response comes shortly after she entered the dating market again. On June 4, multiple outlets reported that the couple—who first sparked dating rumors in 2018—had gone their separate ways.
Rest assured, though, Chris—who shares kids Apple Martin, 21, and Moses Martin, 19, with ex Gwyneth Paltrow—still wants fans to pack the theater for Dakota’s new film. During his June 1 Coldplay show in California, he told the crowd, “Be kind to yourself, be kind to each other. Don’t forget to see Materialists!”
Meanwhile, Dakota has made several solo appearances in the days leading up to and following the breakup as she promotes her new film—which also stars Pedro Pascal and hits theaters June 13.
On May 29, Dakota stepped out for dinner in New York with Taylor Swift, and was spotted taking a stroll in the city’s Tribeca neighborhood one day after the breakup, sans engagement ring.

Although this breakup is appearing to stick, this isn’t the first time Dakota and Chris had been rumored to be on the rocks. In August, speculation circulated that they had called it quits, but a rep told E! News at the time it was “not true.”
