Why Dakota Johnson Says She’ll “Never Do Anything” Like Madame Web Again
Dakota Johnson can always count on her web of supporters: her family.
The Madame Web star was all-smiles as she attended the May 7 screening of her upcoming movie, Materialists, with her brother Jesse Johnson and mom Melanie Griffith in Los Angeles.
While the trio didn’t pose together at the London Hotel, Melanie—who shares Dakota with ex-husband Don Johnson—and Jesse made sure to show the Suspiria actor, 35, some love during the event. The siblings kept their outfits on theme, with Dakota sporting an all-white tank top dress and Jesse, 42—son to Don and ex-wife Patti D’Arbanville—keeping it casual in a white long-sleeve top and black jeans.
Meanwhile, Melanie—also mom to Alexander Bauer, 39, with second ex-husband Steven Bauer and Stella Banderas, 28, with Antonio Banderas—added a little color to her look, wearing a brown mesh turtleneck top, a beige trench coat and jeans.
The support didn’t stop there. After the Materialists screening, Jesse posted a photo of the rom-com film’s art poster—which sees Dakota posed next to her costars Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal—on his Instagram Stories, adding, “dis good.”
Her brother’s praise only adds more anticipation to the film, as it comes nearly two years after she starred in her last rom-com, 2022’s Persuasion.

The trio’s rare outing comes over a year after Dakota shared insight into their blended family. Last March, the TeaTime founder noted she and her siblings will always be in each other’s corner.
“No matter how f---ed up it is, or who’s in rehab, or who’s not speaking to whom, or who’s divorcing whom, we’re family,” she told Bustle at the time. “And we are always going to be a family. It’s really real.”
She also described most of her siblings as “artists,” and that she can relate to their vigor as creatives.
“In my adult life and my new family, most of us are artists,” she continued. “Even the kids, they’re extraordinarily talented people. So you just are dealing with complex people. You grow and you embrace and you say, ‘F--k you and f--k off,’ and then ‘I love you, come back.’”
