Dak Prescott’s latest comment leaves a major question hanging over the NFC

Dak Prescott has put together an incredible NFL career, but the 2026 season presents another opportunity for the Dallas Cowboys to move past their recent playoff disappointments. After a few practices into training camp, Prescott shared that he enjoys the atmosphere and praised the offense's commitment to becoming more efficient in the red zone.

The Cowboys will travel to face the Los Angeles Rams in a joint practice next week, and with joint sessions now serving as valuable tests for first-team units, Prescott expressed his excitement about the game. 

Prescott even joked on Thursday that he hopes it will be the first of three meetings between the two teams this season.

"It's all you can ask for,” Prescott said. “CeeDee [Lamb] was just talking about it today, looking forward to Tuesday. Looking forward to just us getting better, understanding this is a team that we're going to play in the season, and it's probably a team that if we want to get to where we want to get to, we're going to have to see them again.

“So call this probably the first of three meetings, I'd assume if everybody takes care of business. It's definitely going to be a test, it's going to be fun."

Prescott's remarks prove Dallas' determination to finally break through in the postseason. Going up against Sean McVay's Rams will provide Brian Schottenheimer's team with an early benchmark and a chance to evaluate itself against one of the NFC's top contenders.

The Cowboys and Rams are scheduled to meet again in the regular season on Dec. 15. Given the playoff history between the franchises, that Week 15 showdown could play a significant role in shaping the NFC postseason race.
