Dak Prescott's Dallas Cowboys enter the 2026 NFL season with high expectations, as many view them as legitimate playoff contenders. Their outlook received another boost this week after officially signing veteran pass rusher Von Miller, who joined the team recently and has already begun easing into practice.
Miller's workload remains limited, but the future Hall of Famer wasted little time making his presence felt. He participated in four team-drill snaps during Thursday's practice and nearly recorded a sack after beating tight end Luke Schoonmaker in a one-on-one matchup.
On another pass rush, Miller powered right tackle Nate Thomas backward into the pocket. His impact extends beyond rushing the quarterback. The Cowboys struggled against the run last season, finishing with the league's 10th-worst run defense, and his ability to contribute on every down is viewed as a major addition.
Prescott believes Miller's arrival will elevate the entire roster.
"He just makes us all better,” Prescott said.
Miller earlier revealed that he and Prescott crossed paths earlier this offseason and shared an enjoyable conversation. That interaction played a role in convincing the veteran edge rusher to sign with his hometown team.
Even at this stage of his career, Miller continues to produce at a high level. He recorded nine sacks and 36 quarterback pressures while playing only 37% of the defensive snaps. His reputation as one of the NFL's premier pass rushers has long been established, and those accomplishments have helped build a profile worthy of Canton.
Besides strengthening the Cowboys’ pass rush, Miller is also expected to serve as a valuable mentor for their younger edge defenders.
