Custody of Dominik: Mysterio had 2 questions before iconic WWE storyline; Hall of Famer reveals all

One of the most interesting storylines in WWE history was the battle for the custody of Dominik Mysterio back in 2005. A Hall of Famer has revealed what an eight-year-old Dom asked when the storyline was pitched to him.

On the 20th death anniversary of Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio wrote an emotional letter for his best friend via The Players' Tribune. One of the things Rey wrote about was the time they battled for the custody of Dominik, whom Eddie claimed as his son in the storyline.

Rey detailed how the young "Dirty" Dom reacted when they told him he'll be appearing on television and will be part of a story. Since he was only eight years old at the time, he had a couple of simple questions for Rey and Eddie.

"I wish you were around to see Dom. Your very own son!!!! No, I'm just kidding. But I know that line will pop some people. The thing of it is — it's unreal, all the different ways that the story we told at SummerSlam in 2005 has stayed meaningful. I laugh anytime I think back to us first bringing the idea to little Dominik. … He was eight at the time, so he obviously had two important questions. One, 'Am I getting paid?' And two, 'Can I miss school?' Once we answered yes to both, he was in," Rey wrote.

Rey Mysterio ended up winning the ladder match, with a more memorable ending when Eddie Guerrero blew a gasket because his wife, Vickie Guerrero, missed her cue for the ending of the match.

Dominik Mysterio shares tribute to Eddie Guerrero

Rey Mysterio wasn't the only member of his family to pay tribute to Eddie Guerrero on his 20th death anniversary. Dominik Mysterio had a simple post on Instagram, sharing an image of Eddie with the WWE Championship from 2004 and a couple of emojis.

Eddie Guerrero remains a popular figure in WWE despite his untimely death two decades ago. There were loud "Eddie" chants last week on RAW during the segment between Rey and Dom.
