A top WWE megastar was offered to sign an AEW title during an event. However, much to his dismay, the superstar refused to do so.
The star in question, who is one of the most renowned professional wrestlers of all time, is AJ Styles. He became an icon in the wrestling business for his tenure in companies like TNA, NJPW, and other independent promotions. In 2016, he debuted in WWE and has remained a cornerstone for them since. Moreover, Styles also announced that he would finish his illustrious career in the Stamford-based promotion in 2026.
The current one-half of the World Tag Team Champions was part of a Holiday Tour live event that took place recently in Tampa, Florida. He and his partner, Dragon Lee, defeated The New Day and The War Raiders. Following the match, Styles was greeting the audience outside the ring when a fan asked him to sign his AEW World Championship replica belt.
The Phenomenal One gave a shoutout to his real-life friends and current AEW stars, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson. While he showed love for them and appreciation to the fan, Styles declined to sign the title due to his allegiance to World Wrestling Entertainment.
Nick, Matt, I love ya ... Can't sign this though."WWE veteran gave his take on AJ Styles' career update
As mentioned, AJ Styles is set to end his professional wrestling career in 2026. However, wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell believed that wrestlers don't retire, which could lead to WWE bringing him back for one more appearance, citing the example of Brock Lesnar, who also called himself retired at one point and then came back to the ring.
"Listen, you don't retire from wrestling. You just don't." He continued, "I think there will come a time, let's say a year, they come up to him, 'AJ, I got this idea, I know you're gonna tell me it's stupid, but I got this idea where you get back in the ring, I want you to.' And of course, he's gonna say, 'No, no. I quit, I don't want to do it.' And they're telling him, now they get him excited about what they told him. And of course, he's a company guy. He wants it to work, and yeah, he'll come out for it. And Brock's the same thing."With 2026 rapidly approaching, it remains to be seen how the final year of AJ Styles will look in the global juggernaut.
