The Chicago Cubs are currently in control of the National League Central. However, they have suffered some injuries, and the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals have refused to let them run away with the division.
The Cubs will be without Justin Steele after he underwent elbow surgery. Shōta Imanaga is on the injured list as well. The Cubs have a chance to win the division, but FanSided's Christopher Kline proposed they should trade for Chris Sale to make it happen.
"One can question whether or not the Braves want to send Sale to another National League team, but trading Sale is tantamount to admitting defeat on the season and kicking the can down the road," wrote Kline. "Chicago can restock a mediocre Braves pipeline and give Atlanta something to look forward to. Sale, meanwhile, gives Craig Counsell his long-awaited ace and allows Chicago to put all its effort into scaling the mountaintop this season, with Tucker and Pete Crow-Armstrong both producing MVP numbers offensively."
Sale has a 2.93 ERA in 13 starts and would become the ace for the Cubs. The Cubs are going to need pitching to get through October, and the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner can provide that. Sale has an $18 million club option for next season, so the Cubs would not be tied to him past this season if they only want a rental at the deadline.
Sale is an eight-time All-Star, a World Series champion and Triple Crown winner. He could help the Cubs reach their true potential this season. The Cubs could end up having just one season with Kyle Tucker, so the front office needs to capitalize on this opportunity.

"The Kyle Tucker trade pushed the Cubs into a new stratosphere of contention," wrote Kline. "It also put them on the clock, as keeping Tucker in free agency is by no means a guarantee."
