Music legend Stu Cook, the 80-year-old bass guitarist for the beloved band Creedence Clearwater Revival, has sold his waterfront Florida residence for $7.5 million — down from its original ask of $9.97 million last year.
The buyer was Myron Robbins, of Buffalo Management Group.
The Sarasota home had last asked $7.87 million. Cook and his wife Diana bought it for $2.95 million in 2013, according to property records.
The band, from the San Francisco Bay Area, was best known for its politically inspired Vietnam-era hits including “Bad Moon Rising,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” and “Down on the Corner.” Sadly, the band was also known for its bitter break-up.
The home, at 3638 San Remo Terrace, is near Siesta Key. Originally designed by Carl Abbott, who was part of the Sarasota School of Architecture, and built in 2002, it was extensively rebuilt in 2016.
At 4,559 square feet, the four-bedroom, 4.5-bath modern residence sits on a third of an acre.
A travertine walkway leads to a Zen garden — and, from there, glass double doors open into the home.
Visitors are greeted by a large great room with glass walls and pocket sliding doors that lead to stunning water views. Design details include white oak floors and a marble fireplace, along with a papier-mâché chandelier.
There’s also a chef’s kitchen that comes with custom cabinetry. In addition, a sliding countertop section hides an induction cooktop or sink when it’s not in use.
A staircase with glass rails, as well as an elevator, leads upstairs to a main bedroom suite on the second floor. It features a sitting area and sliding doors that open to a terrace, while a sliding wood wall adds even more privacy.
There’s also a gym.
Outside, the home boasts a travertine pool deck, covered and open seating areas, a boat dock with a lift, and a pool with a spa.
The listing broker was Joel Schemmel, of Douglas Elliman; the buyer’s broker was Adnan Dedic, of Compass.
