Craig Jones and Gordon Ryan have seemingly joined forces and publicly distanced themselves from Australian standout Izaak Michell after serious allegations of sexual assaults against him. The allegations were recently brought to light by BJJ (Brazilian jiu-jitsu) athlete Hannah Griffith.
Michell trained with Danaher Death Squad before leaving with Jones to form the B Team. They parted ways in early 2023 due to disputes over pay and ownership. In December 2025, Ryan announced that Michell was no longer affiliated with Kingsway Jiu Jitsu, but didn't offer any explanation at the time.
Soon after that, reports emerged that multiple women had contacted police with allegations of sexual misconduct. Griffith publicly shared her experience on an Instagram post, on which Ryan and Jones also collaborated. She wrote:
"Recently, I was sexually assaulted by Izaak Michell. Coming forward has been incredibly difficult. It becomes even harder when the person responsible is well-known, respected, and holds influence within a team or community. That power dynamic can make speaking up feel isolating, intimidating, and almost impossible, and it is one of the reasons so many people never come forward."Get the latest updates on One Championship Rankings at Sportskeeda and more
Jones later indicated that similar accounts had surfaced from women across different cities and countries. In a separate post, he commented:
"Spoken to many many women with similar stories to this, guys an absolute monster. Respect to Hannah for standing up to this guy and letting the others know they’re not alone... So sad the number of women he has done this to. Every story shares a disturbingly similar pattern. These are women from different parts of Austin, different cities and different countries. This is not isolated to the jiu-jitsu community."Check out the Instagram post below:
John Danaher reacts to Craig Jones and Gordon Ryan sharing Hannah Griffith's story
Prominent BJJ instructor John Danaher also showed his support after Craig Jones and Gordon Ryan shared Hannah Griffith’s story.
Danaher praised Griffith for stepping forward despite the difficulty. He called her actions both brave and necessary to protect others. He spoke about her long-standing character, the strength she showed alongside her brother, and acknowledged the role of Austin police victim advocates in guiding a responsible public response during an active investigation.
In the aforementioned Instagram post, he commented:
"Well spoken Hannah. I know this was truly a very difficult thing to do for you, but not only is it the brave thing to do. It’s the right thing to do. This can help protect others. You’ve always been one of the most kindhearted and giving people on the team, and that’s exactly what this person took advantage of, but now that concern you’ve always had for others, combined with the fortitude to step forward and speak can make sure this is never repeated. You and your brother showed deeply impressive courage over this time. We were all greatly impressed by your ability to draw strength from each other."Why did you not like this content?
