Cowboys writer names $5 million offensive star underrated player on roster

The Dallas Cowboys made a significant trade this offseason when the team added Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens.

Pickens should be the No. 2 receiver on the Cowboys since CeeDee Lamb is by far the No. 1 option on the team.

Since Pickens is now in Dallas, that means every other receiver on the depth chart besides Lamb will move down a spot, and one of them is 26-year-old Jalen Tolbert.

Even though Pickens is now with the Cowboys, Tolbert should still have a nice season. Randy Gurzi from Cowboys On SI thinks Tolbert is one of the most underrated players on the roster.

"Jalen Tolbert got a bad rap in 2024. He had a breakout season with 49 receptions for 610 yards and seven touchdowns. Despite those numbers being vastly superior to his 2023 season, Tolbert was criticized for not being a legitimate threat opposite CeeDee Lamb," Gurzi wrote. "That wasn't his fault, but it was a failure on the front office. Thankfully, they rectified that by adding George Pickens, which moved Tolbert to the WR3 role. That suits him much better and should allow him to be a more efficient weapon this year."

Tolbert is in the final year of his four-year $5 million contract and could be playing for a new job somewhere else this fall.

Dallas will need Tolbert to have a good season if the team wants to make the playoffs, and quarterback Dak Prescott will most likely look for him when Lamb and Pickens are double-teamed.
