Cowboys predicted to pull off blockbuster trade for electric 560-yard playmaker

The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2025 campaign with a very shaky situation at the running back position.

The Cowboys signed disappointing former second-round pick Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders and let last year's leading rusher, Rico Dowdle, leave in free agency. Dowdle has since made them pay for that.

However, Williams has been a revelation through six games this season and ranks fourth in rushing yards. But the Sanders acquisition has not been successful after the veteran suffered a season-ending injury.

As a result, the Cowboys only have rookie Jaydon Blue behind Williams the rest of the way and could use more insurance.

While we don't think the Cowboys are going to make any semblance of a splash at the position and instead only a small move, if any, FanSided's Christopher Kline disagrees.

He predicts the Cowboys will pull off a blockbuster trade for New York Jets running back Breece Hall.

The Dallas Cowboys have been trying to figure out their running back situation for two-plus years now. Rico Dowdle appeared to offer a solution out of the blue in 2024, but Jerry Jones let him walk and now he's dropping 200-plus yards on Dallas in a Panthers uniform. Javonte Williams has performed well through six weeks, finding pay dirt five times and averaging 5.2 yards per carry, but he's not a bell cow, workhorse-type back the same way Hall is. If Dallas is willing to pay up long term, Hall can stimulate an already-elite offense in exciting ways, setting up an explosive pass attack from Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

Hall is off to a strong start to the season over the first six games after tallying 560 yards from scrimmage, including 410 on the ground. That's made more impressive by the fact that the Jets are totally inept on offense.

Hall has expressed his desire to stay in New York, but the Jets have a lot of needs up and down the roster and shouldn't even consider paying out big money for a running back at this early stage in the rebuild. Knowing that, the Jets should absolutely trade Hall before he hits free agency in 2026.

There is no denying that Hall would help improve the Cowboys' offense thanks to his ability to rip off explosive plays any time the ball is in his hands.

But the Cowboys' need at running back isn't dire enough to make this kind of trade.

The Cowboys have bigger fish to fry on the defensive side of the ball and should spend their resources there rather than adding to a position that is currently a strength.
