Cowboys predicted to draft 1,300-yard, 19-touchdown RB in 1st-round of 2026 draft

The Dallas Cowboys had one of the worst rushing attacks in the NFL last season and have done little to fix it this offseason. They could make a big change next year.

The Cowboys had the sixth-fewest rushing yards last season. They signed Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders this offseason, both one-year deals. However, neither player seems poised to change the Cowboys' rushing attack drastically. The Cowboys also drafted Jaydon Blue of the University of Texas in the fifth round of this year's draft and Phil Mafah of Clemson University in the seventh round.

While either of their rookies could break out and solve the backfield woes, CBS Sports' Blake Brockermeyer predicted they would select Jeremiyah Love of Notre Dame in the first round of next year's draft.

"Dallas had all the Ashton Jeanty buzz months ago, but Jeanty's stock rose too high for the Cowboys," wrote Brockermeyer. "Jerry gets his chance here for a billboard talent on offense. Love enters the year as RB1 with a nice blend of speed and power and the ability to take over a game, hit the home run and make plays as a receiver."

Love had 1,125 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns last season. He added 237 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. He is a dynamic playmaker and could transform the Cowboys offense if they struggling again this year.

The Cowboys are hoping either Williams, Sanders, Blue or Mafah can break out for the team. If the Cowboys do not have a sustainable rushing attack, it could make it tougher on Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to lead their offense as a whole.
