The Dallas Cowboys are a team drawing a lot of national interest, for the wrong kind of reasons. After losing to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8, it seems that there is now a real chance this Cowboys team acts as a seller, rather than a buyer.
But a win over the Indianapolis Colts would go a long way towards maintaining pace in the NFC East. Fortunately, they are going up against the Indianapolis Colts. This should be a win for Dallas. However, they got some bad news Sunday morning.
According to ESPN's Todd Archer, the Cowboys are going to be without wide receiver George Pickens for Week 9. The star WR is out against the Colts, which is notable as trade rumors swirl around the soon-to-be free agent.
Cowboys rule out George Pickens for Week 9 as trade rumors swirl
"The Cowboys will be without wide receiver George Pickens (shoulder, hamstring), cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (ankle) and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown (back, hamstring) today against the Colts, according to multiple sources," Archer reports.
This is a lengthy list of key players set to miss Week 9 against the Colts. While the Cowboys should still be able to beat the 2-6 Colts this week, this is still a huge update.
Of the three key players now ruled out, Pickens is obviously the most intriguing. Considering there has been trade buzz about Pickens recently, this ruling of Pickens as inactive is worth keeping an eye on.
He is banged up and isn't simply being benched to avoid further injury to keep him healthy for a trade. But with the rumors going around, this is a notable update.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys will rely on CeeDee Lamb and Ryan Flournoy at wide receiver this week, with Jonathan Mingo and Camden Brown, along with Jordan Hudson, being involved in the WR rotation.
Flournoy has impressed lately, and if he can keep up his hot streak with Pickens out, it could give the Cowboys the justification they need to trade Pickens.
He'd bring back a very strong return, likely at least a third-round pick. So, if a team like the Kansas City Chiefs comes calling, it would not be a surprise if Dallas listened if they're getting strong offers.
But, in the meantime, Prescott and the Cowboys will be without a key offensive weapon in Week 9 against the Colts, with Pickens now out for the first time this season.
