The Dallas Cowboys have finally addressed their wide receiver room this offseason. They made a big splash by trading for Pittsburgh Steelers star receiver George Pickens.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Cowboys are sending a third-round pick and swapping a Day 3 pick with the Steelers in exchange for Pickens. CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott will have a new weapon alongside them this year.
The Steelers traded for DK Metcalf and gave him a five-year, $150 million extension this offseason. With Pickens entering free agency after this season, the Steelers likely knew they were not going to be able to pay both Pickens and Metcalf. The Cowboys took advantage of that fact and got Pickens for cheaper than he should've cost them.
Pickens could have cost the Cowboys a second-round pick, but NFL teams likely knew the Steelers' desperation to move him. Pickens was a 1,000-yard receiver in 2023 and had 900 yards in 14 games last year. He has a knack for making spectacular catches, but his attitude has been a concern in the past. However, he has attitude can often be linked back to the Steelers' inconsistency at quarterback.
Prescott will be the best quarterback Pickens has played with in his three-year NFL career. Additionally, he will benefit from Lamb drawing most of the attention from opposing defenses. Lamb and Pickens could become one of the best duos in football very quickly.
