Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown has waited for what feels like forever to finally be cleared to return to the practice field, and this week at The Star, his 21-day window was opened.
Having seen his season last year end early with a devastating knee injury, "Agent 0" was forced to sit on the sidelines for all of the offseason and now through the first seven weeks of this year as he worked tirelessly on his rehab.
Now, he's at a point where he can practice, albeit in a limited way, with a knee brace as part of helping his knee, which he says is an "accessory, not a necessity." That comeback is getting closer.
And speaking to the media, DeMarvion offered a sobering reality of what it is like getting back on the field after being out for so long.
“Been watching for 300 plus days now, so, when you a guy like me, football is more than just a game to you, it's a way of life, you play with the passion and that energy, and when you're able to do it again, you never take it for granted,” Overshown said. "So, each period, play, I had out there, look, I was dancing, having fun with it because I know it can be taken away from you at any point of time."

When will Overshown be back?
Given that this week was his first practice, the Week 11 game against the Las Vegas Raiders has always been touted as his potential return, which gives him another four weeks to get his feet underneath him and trust in his knee.
He won't be the sideline-to-sideline menace from the get-go, as he adjusts to the speed and what it is like to be in a real NFL game again, straight off of his first snap, but having Overshown back will do wonders for Dallas' linebacker room.
It has been a long wait, but the first step was taken at The Star this week, and now we wait to see how Overshown recovers and what his ramp-up will be like.
But make no mistake, he isn't taking anything for granted, and he's ready to make the most of whatever he can in 2025.
