Cowboys' DeMarvion Overshown gets brutal injury update amid Micah Parsons holdout possibility

In addition to all the obvious reasons the Dallas Cowboys need to get a Micah Parsons contract done and avoid a holdout, there's another flying under the radar.

DeMarvion Overshown is injured.

This defense can't be missing multiple key pieces when Week 1 opens against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles.

The news on Overshown doesn't seem great, either.

Here's what ESPN's Ben Solak wrote on Wednesday:

"Expect the Cowboys to be cautious with Overshown (as one should be with a player who tore three ligaments in one knee). Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said in April the team does not expect Overshown to start the season, and local reporters have tagged November as a likely window to return. I'd be stunned if we see him do much during camp, but if he really is ahead on his rehab, we could see the rumblings in August of an early return to action."

Overshown is coming off a torn ACL, PCL and MCL in his right knee.

He's expected to be a starting linebacker when healthy, but when that'll be is less certain.

In the meantime, the Cowboys at least need to keep the rest of their defense intact.
