Could Steph Curry return for the 2028 Olympics in L.A.? ‘Never say never’

In the summer of 2028, the basketball world will descend upon Los Angeles, for the 34th Olympiad.

And somewhere in the tunnel, perhaps with that familiar mouthpiece dangling from his lips, could stand Stephen Curry — 40 years old, still bending the geometry of the game.

It sounds romantic. It also sounds improbable. But it could be possible.

But 2028 is different. Age is undefeated. Legs grow heavier. Recovery takes longer. Curry knows it. On Mind the Game, sitting beside LeBron James, back in November, he practically laughed at the idea, calling a return “highly doubtful.” LeBron, ever the realist, said he’d be watching from Cabo.

Yet this week, ESPN’s Marc Spears suggested the door isn’t closed. “He’s still interested,” Spears said. And that’s all it takes. Interest.

Here’s the truth: if Curry can still move without wincing and lift without pain, you take him. Shooting doesn’t age like athleticism.

It ages like fine wine — or perhaps like Kobe’s fadeaway, immune to time’s erosion. The greatest shooter ever doesn’t need 35 minutes a night. He needs six clean looks and a fourth quarter for the ages.

Los Angeles would erupt. The building would tremble the way it does when history walks through the tunnel. The Olympics aren’t just about youth; they’re about legacy.

And if Curry believes he can still tilt the floor, still scare a defense before he even crosses half court, then you make room for him on the roster.

He says “never say never.” That’s not doubt. That’s possibility.
