Justin Bieber Returning to Grammys 2026 Stage for the First Time in 4 Years
Will a new chapter of EGOT history be made at the 2026 Grammy Awards?
With the Trevor Noah-hosted ceremony set to air from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles Feb. 1, you may be curious if any of the nominees will move into the hallowed halls of EGOT status, meaning they have won at least one competitive award from each of the major entertainment branches: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony.
To date, 27 celebrities have achieved the status—coined by actor Philip Michael Thomas in 1984—with the most recent additions being Elton John and composers Benj Pasek and JustinPaul, who were all minted after winning Emmys in 2024.
Other names that received their own coveted EGOTs include John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Viola Davis and composer Robert Lopez—the only person to have EGOTed twice (meaning he has two of each trophy).
There are also those who have achieved the status through non-competitive wins, including Barbra Streisand—who earned a special Tony in 1970—and the late James Earl Jones—who was recognized with an honorary Academy Awards in 2011.
So, will the 2026 Grammys bring about any new EGOT winners? Sadly, no, because none of the stars who are one award away have been nominated for a Grammy this year.
Still, that’s not to say stars like Jessica Lange, Helen Mirren or Al Pacino—all of whom need a Grammy to complete their EGOT collection—could never achieve the feat.

And while those three are still awaiting a chance to be honored by the Recording Academy, there are others who are hoping to nab an Oscar and finish their EGOTs, like Ben Platt, Billy Porter, Hugh Jackman and Cynthia Erivo. While the Wicked star missed out on a nomination for the 2026 Academy Awards, she has picked up three previous nominations.
As for those hoping to nab a Tony, there’s famed director Martin Scorsese, Beatles alums Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney, theatrical legend Julie Andrews—who turned down her 1996 Tony nomination for Victor/Victoria—as well as Kate Winslet and Lady Gaga.
For a deep dive into more stars who are just one trophy shy of achieving EGOT glory, keep reading.
