It was fare play for these cops.

A pair of Houston police officers hopped an Uber while trying to run down a fleeing suspect — and got the stunned driver to join the chase.

Dashcam footage captured the wild moment officers got into driver Anthony Baines’ car while he was on his way to pick up a fare on Aug. 8, video posted by Fox26 Houston shows.

“Hey, gimme a ride over there, please,” one winded cop yells at Baines, a US Army vet who served in Iraq, after jumping into the passenger’s seat. “That way. Go, go, go, go!”

Baines, who kept his cool during the wild encounter, stopped to pick up the cop’s partner, who was giving chase but being outrun by the suspect, before the car took off again sped around the corner to the officers’ patrol vehicle, according to the outlet.

Once the officers got into their own squad car, Baines was free to pick up his passenger, who had been waiting patiently.

“I was just really in shock about what was taking place,” he told Fox26.

“This is something that I kind of think about only happened in action movies, where somebody was pursing a person and they call for a civilian to help.

“I was just in the heat of the moment, running off adrenaline,” Baines added.

The scene unfolded when police responded to a call of an armed man threatening to shoot a woman and her kids at a pool, but the creep took off when cops got there.

Surveillance video captures the suspect running past Baines’ car, with officers in pursuit.

The first officer runs past the Uber — but her partner stopped and jumped in Baines’ car.

Police said the suspect got away, but praised the veteran for doing his part to help.

The unorthodox move by the cops isn’t against the rules, a police union head said.

“There’s nothing that prohibits anyone from doing it,” Houston Police Officer’s Union President Doug Griffith told the outlet.

“There is also nothing that prohibits them fron going, ‘No, I’m not going to do that, I don’t want to be involved.

“There’s nothing that forces or compels anyone to help out,” he added.
