The Washington Commanders are dealing with contract issues of their own.
They don't want to pay Terry McLaurin as much as he wants to be paid, and because of that, the star wide receiver has requested a trade.
But that doesn't mean the Commanders won't seize on an opportunity when they see one.
And if Micah Parsons is indeed available after requesting a trade from the Dallas Cowboys, the Commanders could get involved.

The Sporting News' Dan Treacy suggested Washington as one of the possible destinations for Parsons. Here's the logic from Treacy:
"Whether the Cowboys would ever be willing to trade Parsons within the NFC East is a complete unknown, but dealing him to the Commanders wouldn't be quite the same optics disaster as dealing him to the Giants or Eagles. What is known is that Washington could really use a standout pass-rusher.
"The Commanders have their own contract dispute going with Terry McLaurin, but they are set to enter the season with Dorance Armstrong and Deatrich Wise Jr. as two of their top edge rushers. That's not ideal for a contender, even if they survived a questionable pass-rush in 2024. If Washington is serious about taking advantage of its window to win while Daniels is on his rookie deal, Parsons would certainly move the needle."

It might not make McLaurin happy to see Washington trade for someone else and give him a contract extension.
But that can't be the Commanders' main concern. Sure, they should trade McLaurin, but Parsons is five years younger and maybe the most impactful defender in the league.
If Washington could weaken Dallas and strengthen themselves to this extent, it'd be a massive move.
It's time for the Commanders to go for it, with promising quarterback Jayden Daniels entering his second season. There wouldn't be a stronger statement of intent than somehow pulling off a trade and contract extension with Parsons.
