Commanders have 2 strong free agent TE targets who still haven't signed

The Washington Commanders are probably in the market for a new tight end.

Luckily for them, the NFL free agency pool still has some great players to potentially target.

The Commanders had Zach Ertz as their TE1 in 2025, but that was on just a one-year contract.

While Ertz has made clear he wants to keep playing in the NFL, that doesn't mean it has to be with the Commanders.

They could choose to get younger at the position instead.

One of the top free agent TEs, Isaiah Likely, reached an agreement with the New York Giants on Monday, but that doesn't mean the Commanders are shut out.

One remaining free agent: Dallas Goedert.

The former Philadelphia Eagles TE could potentially reunite with Philly, although it seems like that would've happened already if it was the best option.

He could choose to learn from Ertz and spend time elsewhere in the NFC East after starting his career in Philadelphia.

Another great option for the Commanders: David Njoku.

The Browns are letting the athletic tight end depart, because they got a gem in rookie Harold Fannin Jr.

Njoku, though, remains one of the league's more physically gifted tight ends, and he'd be a great addition for Washington to try and bounce back after a rough 2025 season.

If the Commanders come away with Goedert or Njoku (or even Ertz), they can feel pretty good about the tight end position for the season ahead.
