The Washington Commanders are heading into Week 5 of the 2026 NFL season looking to get back in the win column. Marcus Mariota, unfortunately, will not be starting for the Commanders this weekend.
But, instead of the third-string quarterback, the Commanders got some incredible news about Jayden Daniels. Fortunately, their QB1 is back.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday morning, just a few days before Week 5, that the Commanders quarterback will be a "full go" this weekend.
Commanders get incredible Jayden Daniels news for Week 5
"Washington's QB1 vs. the Giants: Full Go," Schefter shared. Daniels, who missed half of Week 2 and all of Weeks 3 and 4, is now back for Week 5.
But the good news isn't just that the Commanders got their QB1 back; it's that he'll be a full go this weekend. Washington is no longer going to be without their starting quarterback.
While Daniels' play will be of great interest, as he's dealing with a left elbow issue that will likely limit him to some degree, this report from Schefter indicates that there won't be any limitations placed on Daniels by the Commanders.

There won't be a pitch count on Daniels, and there won't be any restrictions put on him when it comes to running the ball either.
If the game situation dictates that he needs to make a play, this report from Schefter indicates the Commanders believe Daniels can make it.
Daniels is back for the Commanders and will suit up against the Giants in Week 5 in what could wind up being a bad weather game with some rain and wind. But, regardless of the weather, getting Daniels back now is some well-timed and much-needed great news.
