The Washington Commanders got some huge news on Friday from their head coach, Dan Quinn. Most importantly, Quinn confirmed that Jayden Daniels was, indeed, back for Washington and will start at quarterback in Week 5.
But unfortunately for Daniels, his Week 5 matchup against the New York Giants is going to be a bit more challenging than initially anticipated. The reason why? An injury to a key offensive weapon.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Commanders have already ruled out wide receiver Stefon Diggs for Week 5, making this return to action for Daniels a bit more challenging.
Commanders' Stefon Diggs ruled out for Week 5 right as Jayden Daniels returns
"Commanders HC Dan Quinn says WR Stefon Diggs is out Sunday against the Giants. Jayden Daniels is good to go, and WR Terry McLaurin looked good today," Garafolo reports.
Washington is going to be without Diggs in Week 5 against the Giants, and even Terry McLaurin isn't a lock to suit up for this weekend's matchup.
So, with Daniels finally coming back after missing Weeks 3 and 4 due to a left elbow injury, the Commanders QB is going to be without his No. 2 target, and his No. 1 target is in question for this weekend as well.

Daniels is going to be throwing the ball a lot to his running backs and tight ends, with Antonio Williams, Treylon Burks, and Dyami Brown seeing plenty of action as well.
While it's great to get Daniels back, the Commanders are going to be without a key wide receiver in Diggs, and their other top option appears to be in question, though trending in the right direction.
Diggs has been ruled out this weekend with a hamstring injury, making Daniels' return to the starting QB job a bit trickier than originally anticipated.
