Colts quarterbacks weigh in on Tyler Warren’s debut

The Colts dropped their preseason opener 24-16 to the Ravens on the road, but preseason is about more than the results.

Among the positives for Indianapolis was rookie Tyler Warren. Their first-round selection in this year’s draft, Warren’s NFL debut proved exactly why they brought him in.

Both Anthony Richardson Sr. and Daniel Jones were impressed with Warren’s performance.

“He’s a beast,” Richardson said about the rookie tight end. “He’s not afraid of contact, (he’s) a physical dude, smart too. We just got to do our job and get the ball to him.”

Warren was targeted three times, all of which he caught, for 40 yards, earning an impressive 83.0 receiving grade from Pro Football Focus. He proved his reliability, which as a quarterback, Jones appreciated.

“Pretty much from Day 1 he’s shown up and made a lot of plays for us. He’s got a great feel for the game and space and getting open…he’s been great since he’s been here,” he said after the game in Baltimore.

While it’s early, Warren has yet to show any reason for concern. He was about as safe of a draft pick as they get this past April and so far, has proven to be exactly as advertised for the Colts.
