Indiana Jones may be here to stay.
The Colts are looking to sign Daniel Jones, the ex-Giants sixth overall pick in 2019, to a long-term contract amid his stellar season in Indianapolis, which has been one of the best teams in the NFL.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Indianapolis wanted to keep Jones on the squad beyond this season and that the Colts “for sure have interest in bringing Daniel Jones back on a long-term deal after the 2025 season.”
Considering how successful Jones has been this year and the role he’s played in the Colts’ 6-1 start, it isn’t much of a surprise that they’d want to have him stick around.

The QB also has four rushing touchdowns this year, going into the Week 8 meeting with the Titans.
Jones has been completing passes at a career-best 71 percent this season, with a talented team around him, which includes star running back Jonathan Taylor, rookie tight end Tyler Warren, along with receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs.

Jones had signed a one-year, $14 million deal with the Colts in the offseason and beat out Anthony Richardson for the starting job in training camp.
Spotrac is projecting Jones’ next deal to be a four-year, $192.63 million contract.

A deal for Jones would put into question Richardson’s status with the franchise.
Richardson, a fourth overall pick by the Colts in 2023, has been hampered by injury during his short career and just recently had to undergo surgery to repair an orbital fracture suffered from a freak accident that happened in Week 6, according to The Athletic.
