Colts' high-ranking executive labeled Jets general manager candidate

As the Indianapolis Colts look to keep their playoff hopes alive with two games before the bye week, another AFC team is reeling.

Following the Colts' shocking 28-27 comeback win on the road at MetLife Stadium, the New York Jets made a mildly surprising decision to fire general manager Joe Douglas.

The move puts the Jets in another cycle of trying to find a sustainable general manager, which means there are likely going to be some candidates from the Colts front office.

Seemingly the case every offseason, Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds is expected to be right in the mix, and he was named a potential candidate for the Jets job by Rich Cimini of ESPN.

Cimini named a handful of potential candidates for the Jets to consider, including former Colts general manager and current Minnesota Vikings executive Ryan Grigson.

As the right-hand man to general manager Chris Ballard, Dodds has long been a general manager candidate. He's taken interviews over the last few offseasons with the Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panthers, to name a few.

Dodds has often been praised throughout his tenure with the Colts, and it's only a matter of time before he lands a general manager gig. However, he's been particularly picky with his options considering the fact that general managers typically only get one shot at the job.

Whether that will be in East Rutherford remains to be seen, but it won't be a surprise if these two teams are linked this offseason.
