Deion Sanders has developed a reputation for landing at least one 5-star per recruiting cycle. One of the bigger surprises was the acquisition of IMG Academy standout Jordan Seaton. Seaton’s addition was desperately needed. Following the 2023 season where then starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders was sacked 53 times, a new program record.
Like any other five-star athlete in the NIL era, there was a built-in assumption that Seaton would find ways to earn NIL revenue. Especially due to his close proximity to Shedeur Sanders who earned over $6 million during Seaton’s freshman season.
Shedeur is making his way in the NFL now, but Seaton is still manning the blind side the current Colorado quarterbacks. Seaton is a large human who is not shy about having nice things. Almost 11 months ago to the day, a Deion Sanders Jr tweet went viral of Jordan Seaton standing next to allegedly a $200K Mercedes Maybach.
Long before that Sanders made waves by purchasing his own Maybach. In a fun moment in 2023, head coach Deion Sanders was on a video call with Tom Brady. The elder Sanders humorously asked if a young college kid should be worried about a Phantom? Shedeur corrected him saying it was a Cullinan, but Brady’s answer didn’t need that context. Brady gave a response we won’t quote, but suggested he should spend more time in the film room.
Although names like Shedeur and Travis Hunter are no longer suiting up for the Buffaloes, the business of football continues. Seaton made the announcement of the new NIL deal with the financial services company "NerdWallet" via his official Instagram account.
This announcement came with a video of Seaton walking around Folsom Field and the CU Champions Center. The video and adjoining post includes a link for fans to win a chance to join Seaton on the personally guided tour of the facility as well as tickets to the Arizona State game in the Touchdown Club.
If “NerdWallet” sounds familiar to Buffaloes fans, its should. NerdWallet is a sponsor of the University of Colorado football program as well as other related interests. The north endzone as well as other locations around the stadium include large video displays that offer fans in attendance financial planning tips and life concepts that might require financial planning or responsibility. The winner of the Jordan Seaton/NerdWallet drawing will win tickets in the Touchdown Club, which is also sponsored by NerdWallet.
In the current NIL landscape, Seaton is compensated reasonably for what he provides the Buffs offense and locker room. According to Sports Illustrated and On3, Seaton’s NIL valuation comes in at a shade under $2 million. No indication as of yet from financial reporting if his current NIL valuation includes or excludes this most recent NerdWallet partnership.
Colorado’s next home game and prize for the winner of the NerdWallet drawing will be against Arizona State. That game is scheduled for November 22nd but the time has not been determined as of yet.
