Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders is Browns’ ‘odd man out,’ faces ‘uphill climb’ to not be released

Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders has been a cut candidate for the Cleveland Browns all offseason. Things have not changed in rookie OTAs, minicamp, or training camp.

CBS Sports’ Carter Bahns gave Sanders a slim chance of making the Browns roster.

“Following his surprising fifth-round selection, coupled with three more quarterback additions this offseason, Shedeur Sanders could be the odd man out on the  Cleveland Browns' depth chart. His lack of first-team reps in the opening days of training camp indicates that he faces an uphill battle to make the roster,” Bahns wrote.

NFL insider Mike Garafolo revealed that Cleveland is almost certainly not planning on keeping four quarterbacks on their roster.

Garofolo sees Kenny Pickett as the only sure thing to stick on the Browns.

“You’re not keeping four quarterbacks. You got four on the roster here…You traded for Kenny Pickett, then to just get rid of him doesn’t make much sense. You could have four quarterbacks in the building just not necessarily on the roster so I think that’s the way it’s going to play out. Which of those rookies can put stuff on tape in the preseason that makes it hard for the Browns to then subject one of them to get through waivers to get onto the practice squad,” Garafolo said.

Sanders has not improved his narrative standing at all since being drafted in the fifth round of the NFL draft this past April. In fact, since leaving CU, he’s done little to convince NFL front offices that he can be a franchise QB.

Sanders was indifferent and unknowledgeable in meetings with multiple coaching staffs, if not downright rude.

The one saving grace is his local charitable work in Cleveland, though that may not save him from being put on the chopping block very soon.
